Easter Egg Hunt - Original Painting

Gouache on 300gsm watercolour paper, 11 x 15 inches, titled and signed. Gold and silver leaf on the easter eggs. 

Egg hunts with my cousins in Devon (fourteen of us!) were a highlight of my childhood. The glint of a gold wrapper inside a tulip, or in a cranny high in a mossy wall. The careful fairness, so that the smallest children were allowed the easy finds. The poring over the contents of the basket, deciding whether to eke it out over days or eat it all at once . . .

I loved working on this painting, including gilding each of the tiny eggs in gold and silver leaf (hard to see in a scan, but so pleasing in the original).
