Inspired by the amazing Barbara Hepworth. A leading modernist sculptor – and also a mother of four children, including triplets. I wanted to paint her without a chisel in her hand or a baby on her hip. Alone and tranquil, pursuing her gardening in her lean-to greenhouse in St Ives, Cornwall. A moment to breathe, apart from the juggle of life.
